About Awfully Chocolate Mooncake

Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival means indulging in delectable mooncakes while sipping tea and gazing at the moon, lighting lanterns and candles, surrounded by our loved ones. The Moon Festival (as it is also known, and to some as the Mooncake Festival) honours Chang’e, the Moon Goddess of Immortality and is a celebration on abundance, peace and prosperity in most Asian countries.

It takes place during the full moon on the 15^th day of the 8^th lunar month on the calendar each year. Awfully Chocolate are a cake shop most notably known for creating the best chocolate cake in Singapore. However, they do know their way around making some incredible mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Their mooncakes are always presented so wonderfully and the selection of mooncake is simply to die for!

The Product Selection

Although Awfully Chocolate are expert chocolatiers and have been in the business of chocolate-making and all things chocolate based, their mooncakes are obviously going to be filled with chocolatey goodness too! A vast amount of care and intricacy goes into creating the finest chocolate mooncakes, that Awfully Chocolate have perfected over the years.

Blue Moon Chocolate Mooncakes

These beauties are more of an interpretation of a mooncake than an actual mooncake itself. Think along the lines of a mini chocolate dessert that resembles a mooncake. They are the perfect remedy if you a getting a little tired of the traditional egg yolk and lotus paste mooncakes that are on the market.

The Blue Moon collection of mooncakes are handcrafted using natural ingredients and avoid any added preservatives, so you know they are top-quality. There are two variations on the Blue Moon namely, the White Moon and the Dark Moon.

The Dark Moon Mooncake

Made entirely from premium dark chocolate, the Dark Moon Awfully Chocolate mooncake mimics the idea of a yolk centre with a white chocolate centre surrounded by chocolate cake and a smooth, yet nutty praline filling enrobed in a smooth 60% dark chocolate shell. It is a textural experience with the nutty crunch and the cracking of the chocolate shell.

The White Moon Mooncake

The White Moon Mooncake is the perfect alternative if you are not a dark chocolate lover. With a similar structure, the White Moon is made from premium white chocolate. The white chocolate shell is filled with a white chocolate “yolk” and chocolate cake layer surrounded by silky smooth white chocolate ganache that has been infused with fresh vanilla bean.

Other Flavoured Mooncakes

Awfully Chocolate have also experimented with other more traditional types of mooncakes. These flavours include a Chocolate Brownie mooncake with Melon Seeds or a Crunchy Hazelnut Croquet which is comprised of hazelnuts and a decadent chocolate lotus paste encased in a beautiful chocolate skin.

Pricing Information

A 4-piece box of Blue Moon Mooncakes will cost you S$ 68 and includes two Dark Moon Mooncakes and two White Moon Mooncakes. The 2-piece box include one of each variation of the Blue Moon Mooncakes and will cost you S$ 38 per box. A box of their more traditional mooncakes will set you back S$ 88 for a mixed box of 4 pieces.
